He has developed a very good power system protection laboratory at G H Patel College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Vallabh Vidyanagar, using various types of numerical relays. Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor at GCET, Vallabh Vidyanagar, and is also pursuing a PhD from Sardar Patel University. Vijay Hiralal Makwana obtained his BE and ME in Electrical Power System from BVM, and has seven years of teaching experience. His current areas of interest are numerical protection of power systems and real-time digital simulation. Presently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at BVM. A G Phadke at CPRI, Bangalore, in February, 2007. He also attended a workshop on WAMS and Digital Protection by Prof. He finished a twoyear MTech programme in July 2007 from IIT Bombay during which he studied Digital Protection under Prof. He has contributed for the Power System Protection Lab Development and also led the team for development of the Microprocessor Applications Laboratory at BVM. Rashesh Prahladbhai Mehta obtained his BE from BVM in the year 1989. He is currently the Chair of IEEE NZ North Section and Executive committee member for CIGRE NZ National Committee. His research interests include power system analysis, relaying and optimisation in context of electricity markets and integration of DG/renewables. Presently, he is a Senior Lecturer at the ECE Department, University of Auckland, New Zealand. He has held several professional, teaching and research positions in India, USA and New Zealand (NZ). He received a PhD from Texas A&M University, USA, for Incorporating Voltage Security into Planning, Operation and Monitoring of Restructured Electric Energy Markets. Nirmal-Kumar C Nair obtained his BE from MS University, Baroda, and ME in High Voltage (gold medal) from IISc, Bangalore. His current area of interest is relay coordination for interconnected power systems. The work done in this lab has been accepted internationally by his paper titled Development of Power System Protection Laboratory through Senior Design Projects in IEEE Journal on Power Systems, Vol. Previously, he has worked in the Engineering Cell in GEB for the design of relaying system for the Ukai Thermal Power Plant, and has pioneered the development of the Power System Protection Laboratory at BVM. He obtained his BE and ME in Power Systems from the same college. About the Authors Bhuvanesh Ajitram Oza, with a teaching experience of over 25 years, is presently an Assistant Professor at BVM Engineering College, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat.
